1. Who we are
Groom for Improvement ("we", "us") is a dog grooming business operated by Fern Smith, based in Chinnor, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@groomforimprovement.co.uk or by phone at 01844 512345.
2. What data we collect and why
We collect only what we need to provide our services and respond to you.
- Contact form: When you use the contact form on our website, we may collect your first name, last name, email address, phone number, your dog's name (optional), subject, and message. We use this to respond to your enquiry. If we store this data (e.g. in email or a CRM), we will retain it only as long as needed for that purpose or as required by law.
- Booking: Appointments are made via our booking flow, which may redirect you to Square for scheduling. Any data you enter there (name, email, phone, appointment details) is collected and processed by Square in accordance with their privacy policy. We may also receive appointment and contact details from Square to fulfil your booking. We use that information to provide grooming services and to contact you about your appointment.
3. Legal basis (UK / EEA)
Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies: we process your data on the basis of consent (when you submit a form or agree to communications) and legitimate interest (to run our business, fulfil bookings, and respond to enquiries). We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling.
4. Sharing and processors
We do not sell your data. We may share data with service providers who act on our instructions (e.g. hosting, email, and booking platforms such as Square). When we do, we ensure they are bound by appropriate safeguards. Square and other processors have their own privacy policies that apply to their processing.
5. Retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary for the purposes above (e.g. responding to enquiries, fulfilling and following up on bookings, and any legal or regulatory requirements). You can ask us to delete your data earlier (see your rights below).
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access your data; correct it; ask for erasure; restrict processing; data portability; object to processing; and withdraw consent. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority (e.g. the ICO in the UK). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@groomforimprovement.co.uk.
7. Cookies and tracking
We use only essential cookies necessary for the site to function (see our Cookie Policy). We do not use analytics or advertising cookies on this site. If we add them in future, we will ask for your consent and update this policy.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your data (e.g. secure hosting, limited access). No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy where permitted by law.
